ベスト・ケース・シナリオを授業に取り入れてみましょう！
米国のドラマ This Is Us に出てくる “Worst-Case Scenario” は、不安なことについて「起こり得る最悪の展開」をあえて口に出す、ピアソン家のやり方です。今回はこれとは反対の、“Best-Case-Scenario” をご紹介します。
Best-Case-Scenario では、ある状況について「最高にうまくいったらどうなる？」と想像し、どんどん話を膨らませていく活動です。会話の練習やアイスブレイクに最適です。
Best-Case Scenario Activity
Instructions
- Work with a partner or in a small group.
（ペアまたは少人数のグループになります。） - Choose a situation or problem.
（状況や問題を1つ選びます。） - Imagine the best possible outcome.
（考えられる最高の結果を想像します。） - Take turns adding something positive to the scenario.
（交代でポジティブな展開を付け加えます。） - Be creative! Your ideas don’t have to be realistic.
（自由に想像しましょう。現実的でなくても構いません。）
Example 1.
Situation: You get lost on Mt. Fuji.
（富士山で遭難してしまいました。）
A: Okay, best-case scenario: We find the trail again right away.
（最高の場合、すぐに登山道を見つけられる。）B: And we meet some experienced hikers who know the mountain really well.
（それで、富士山に詳しい経験豊富な登山者に出会う。）A: They have extra food and water and share it with us.
（その人たちが予備の食料と水を持っていて、分けてくれる。）B: And they lead us to a mountain hut nearby.
（そして、近くの山小屋まで連れて行ってくれる。）A: We get there just before a big storm starts.
（大きな嵐が始まる直前に到着する。）B: We spend the night there, and the next morning the weather is perfect.
（そこで一晩過ごして、翌朝は最高の天気になる。）A: And we get to see an incredible sunrise from Mt. Fuji!
（しかも、富士山から素晴らしい日の出を見ることができる！）B: So getting lost actually turns into the best part of our trip!
（結局、遭難したことが旅行で一番の思い出になる！）
少し笑える展開にしたいなら、最後を “And a TV crew interviews us!” → “We become famous!” → “Someone makes a movie about our adventure!” のようにもできます。
Example 2
Situation: You get lost in New York City.
（ニューヨークで道に迷いました。）
A: Okay, best-case scenario: We find someone who can give us directions.
（最高の場合、道を教えてくれる人が見つかる。）B: And they tell us about a great cafe nearby.
（そして、近くの素敵なカフェを教えてくれる。）A: We go there and have the best cheesecake we’ve ever had.
（そこに行って、今までで一番おいしいチーズケーキを食べる。）B: Then we meet a famous actor at the cafe!
（すると、カフェで有名な俳優に会う！）A: The actor invites us to a Broadway show that night.
（その俳優が、その夜のブロードウェイのショーに招待してくれる。）B: And we get front-row seats for free!
（しかも、最前列の席を無料でもらえる！）A: After the show, we get invited to the cast party.
（ショーの後、出演者のパーティーにも招待される。）B: So getting lost turns into the best day of our trip!
（結局、道に迷ったことが旅行で最高の一日につながる！）
