risk-averse は、「リスクを避ける傾向がある」という意味です。
下記で例文を紹介します。

averse と adverse の違い
averse と似た単語で adverse がありますが、下記のように違いますので確認しておきましょう。
averse = 「~を嫌って、~を避けたがって」
→ risk-averse(リスクを避けたがる)
adverse = 「不利な、好ましくない」
→ adverse effects(悪影響)
→ adverse weather conditions(悪天候)
覚え方としては、be averse to ~ = ~を嫌う とセットで覚えると分かりやすいです。
